Flapjacks

Overview

Very easy to make, and good for picnics, or to settle down at home with a cup of tea.

Ingredients

  • 160g butter

  • 265g oats

  • 100g (½ cup) soft brown sugar

  • 3 tbsp golden syrup

  • 45g chocolate for drizzling

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a square baking tray with grease proof paper.

  2. Mix together the oats and brown sugar in a large bowl.

  3. On the lowest possible heat add golden syrup and butter to melt.

  4. Add the golden syrup, and melted butter to the bowl, mixing everything together until the oats are coated.

  5. Pour the mixture into the baking tray, tamping it down firmly; get it packed in so it wont fall apart once finished.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes, then whilst still warm, use a sharp knife to score into even pieces. Keeping them in the tin, let everything cool completely.

  7. Once cooled, drizzle melted chocolate over the flapjacks. Once the chocolate has hardened, cut into squares and eat.
